ICA June Board meeting at the USS Iowa

If you haven’t already, please register for Thursday’s board meeting (link below), ASAP. The event is FREE for board members and staff. Please use the discount code “JuneIowaBoard” to register for free. If you would like to bring other people, you can. But, they need to pay the member fee of $40.

Come for the tour or the dinner, or just the board meeting. The event starts at 5 pm, dinner at 6 pm, but the Board meeting does not start until 7 pm.

Invited guests include Supervisor Hahn and LA City Council Member Tim McOsker.

If your city has an alternate, please let the alternate know that they can attend in your place.

What is the USS IOWA?

USS Iowa (BB-61) was the lead ship of the last class of U.S. Navy battleships to be built by the United States. The battleship was originally commissioned in 1943,[1] and served during World War II, the Korean War, and through the Cold War. Iowa earned 11 battle stars during her career and hosted three U.S. Presidents, ultimately earning the nicknames Battleship of Presidents and Big Stick.

Iowa was awarded to the Pacific Battleship Center on September 6, 2011 for display at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro, California – home to the United States Battle Fleet from 1919 to 1940.
